The Importance of Fiber In Relation To Weight Loss

Probably the most common deficiency in the U.S. diet is fiber. Fiber has played an important and traditional role in many countries where cholesterol intake is low. Only recently, we are finding the reasons as to why fiber is so effective. 
When fiber is consumed daily, studies have shown a significant decrease in serum cholesterol for 14 out of the 15 patients along with a decrease in tryglycerides and low density lipoproteins. U.S. Government reports show that increased dietary fiber has therapeutic value in diverticular disease, atonic constipation and certain hemorrhoidal conditions. Likewise, if you eat foods low in fiber, you tend to be constipated and harmful bacteria multiply in the large intestine. By eating a lot of fiber, potential carcinogens are not absorbed.

Table of Techniques
· Drink a glass of water or eat an apple ten minutes before each meal  
· Sit at the table for a full minute before you start eating.  
· Cut your food into small pieces. 
· Chew each mouthful of food 20 times. 
· Put down your knife and fork between each bite.  
· Talk, talk, talk, You can't talk with your mouth full.  
· Select food that takes longer to eat. 
· Don't save the best for last, you'll find you want to eat it anyway. 
· Eat the highest in nutrition first.  
· Eat Vegetarian. Start with once a week.  
· Pile up your salad plate high. Sprinkle with lemon juice.  
· Second helpings are for growing kids, not you. 
· If dessert is necessary, wait at least 45 minutes.
